Shannon Hauxwell, 32, Passes Away After Battle with Cancer

Shannon Hauxwell, 32, from Bishop Auckland, died on New Year’s Eve. She had been diagnosed with aggressive mouth cancer nearly a year prior.

Shannon was a care worker known for her wicked sense of humour and kind spirit. She worked as a supervisor at The Manor House care home in Barnard Castle. Since her passing, tributes have flooded social media.

Funeral Arrangements

Her funeral is scheduled for Friday, January 16, at 1:30 PM at St Anne’s Church of England in Bishop Auckland Market Place (DL14 7NJ). The service will be followed by a ceremony at Wear Valley Crematorium in Coundon (DL14 8PE).

The family requests family flowers only. Donations to St Cuthbert’s Hospice are welcomed. In line with Shannon’s wishes, family and friends are asked to wear all black, as she requested: “all black like my soul,” with no colour.

After the services, family and friends are invited to celebrate Shannon’s life at Tindale Crescent Working Men’s Club in Bishop Auckland (DL14 9SS).

Tributes and Memories

Following Shannon’s death, her sister-in-law and best friend, Chelsea Hauxwell, paid tribute. She said, “You could never be morbid or down anywhere near her. She would always make jokes and she had an infectious smile. I’m glad she never lost her sense of humour.”

Chelsea also noted Shannon’s close relationship with her family, which helped her through tough times. Shannon was very close to her parents, Jean and ‘Big’ Paul, and her brother Paul. She adored her niece and nephew, Lousha and ‘Little’ Paul, treating them as her own.

Shannon’s warmth extended beyond her family to her work at The Manor House care home. Her family stated that she devoted her days to helping others.
