Concerns Over Parked BMW X5 Near Busy Junction in Buckton

Residents have raised concerns after a BMW X5 was parked near a busy junction on a main route out of Bridlington.

The vehicle is located about 35 feet from the junction of Buckton Gate and High Street in Buckton. This area is heavily used by commuters traveling from the north and east outskirts of Bridlington towards Filey, Scarborough, and beyond.

A local resident stated that the car has been causing problems since it was left there earlier this week.

Date Vehicle Location Resident Concern
5 January 2026 BMW X5 Buckton Gate and High Street Hazardous parking

“The vehicle has been left there since Monday evening (5 January 2026) and is causing problems. It was particularly hazardous when snow and ice were on the road,” the resident said.

“The road is narrow at that point, and with cars coming off and onto the junction, it is becoming a real hazard. I fear there will be an accident if it is not removed,” they added.

“The verge has already been severely damaged by vehicles having to take action to get around the vehicle. I think five days of being left is unacceptable and hope it can be moved sooner rather than later,” the resident continued.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council confirmed it is aware of the situation but stated that the vehicle does not currently meet the criteria to be classified as abandoned.

A spokesperson for East Riding of Yorkshire Council said, “If a vehicle is a danger or obstruction, then it should be reported to the police.”

“We are aware of this car as we’ve received reports about it, but at the moment we would not consider the vehicle to be abandoned,” they added.

“When assessing whether we believe a vehicle is abandoned, we consider whether it is taxed, tested, and insured, its condition, where it is parked, how long it has been there, whether it is locked, and any other relevant information, such as if it has broken down and is awaiting recovery,” the spokesperson explained.

“People can report abandoned and nuisance vehicles to us at our website www.eastriding.gov.uk/abandonedvehicles,” they concluded.
