Paul Rickeard Awarded OBE for Services to Education

Paul Rickeard, originally from Newcastle and now based in Acomb, has received an OBE. He is the CEO of the Durham and Newcastle Diocesan Learning Trust.

Paul has worked in education for nearly 24 years. He has been the CEO of the trust for the last seven years. He received the OBE for his services to education.

As CEO, Paul collaborates with 21 schools, soon to be 22, across eight local authorities. The trust employs over 500 staff and educates nearly 4,000 primary school-age children.

“I am really proud and honoured to be made an OBE,” Paul stated. He added, “However, this award is also about the amazing teams and my family who have supported me throughout my life.”

Paul began his education career as a teaching assistant in a secondary school in Newcastle. He has worked as a headteacher and as a local leader in education.

Currently, he is a member of the CEO advisory group to the Department of Education.

Outside of work, Paul enjoys jogging, walking his two dogs, Meg and Simba, and spending time with family and friends.
