Manchester Cathedral will be the venue for the UK launch of Luminiscence, an immersive projection and live music experience. This event has attracted over one million visitors globally.

Luminiscence has previously illuminated historic landmarks in countries like France, the USA, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. This marks its first appearance in the UK.

The experience features 360-degree video mapping, orchestral reimaginings of famous songs, and a narrative celebrating both Manchester and the cathedral. It includes a new script by BAFTA Award winner Tim Whitnall and narration by Christopher Eccleston.

The Manchester Collectives Gospel Choir will perform during the event. Attendees can expect new arrangements of songs like The Verve’s Bitter Sweet Symphony and Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart.

High-powered projections will transform the cathedral, turning statues, pillars, and stained-glass windows into animated art. These visuals utilize intricate 3D mapping and modeling to showcase the building’s architectural beauty and its historical significance.

The experience combines voices, orchestral sound, and imagery to celebrate Manchester’s creativity and pride. Organisers describe it as a unique opportunity.

Gold ticket holders will enjoy fast-track entry and a complimentary glass of fizz upon arrival. Manchester Cathedral, located on Victoria Street, has served as a place of worship for centuries and is known for its gothic architecture and historical importance.

The Luminiscence experience is recommended for ages 10 and up, with ticket prices starting at £29. It launches in mid-January and runs until March. Tickets can be purchased at luminiscence.uk/manchester.
