Lymington council approves £11,923 in grants to 18 community groups from this year’s budget, supporting local initiatives and charities
Lymington Council Approves Grant Aid for Community Groups
Lymington council has approved nearly £12,000 in grant aid applications for community groups, according to the mayor. The council has given “as much as it could” to support these groups.

In total, 18 community groups applied for £27,887 in grant funding. The council approved £11,923 at a full town council meeting.
Upcoming Presentations and Fund Distribution
An officer informed councillors that successful applicants will present their work to the council in February. The approved funds will be distributed in April from this year’s budget.

Cllr Colm McCarthy, who chaired the meeting, expressed a desire to provide more funding. He stated, “With the way things are going in the country we would have liked to have given more, but unfortunately we were not in a position to be able to.”

Concerns About Budget Spending
Cllr Thomas Brindley from Pennington ward expressed concern about spending next year’s budget. He called it “bad practice” to tie future councils to previous decisions.

An officer reassured Cllr Brindley that the grant aid donations are from this year’s budget. Cllr Brindley agreed that it is important to understand that they are not spending next year’s budget.
