Cheshire Police Arrest Wanted Man
Cheshire Police launched a manhunt this week to find a wanted man. They asked residents for help in locating an inmate who had reportedly escaped from HMP Thorn Cross.
The prisoner was reported missing from the category D open prison in Appleton Thorn at 8:20 PM on Tuesday.
Two days later, on Thursday, Cheshire Police confirmed that a suspect had been arrested in Manchester.
Charges Against Keiron Cameron
Keiron Cameron, aged 43, has been charged with escaping from lawful custody and threatening to destroy property. His address on court documents is listed as HMP Thorn Cross on Arley Road.
The first charge states that Cameron escaped from lawful custody at HMP Thorn Cross on January 6. The second charge claims that between January 4 and 8, he threatened a woman, saying he would “burn her and her mother’s houses down.”
Cameron was scheduled to make his first appearance regarding these allegations before Warrington Magistrates’ Court today, Saturday. The court has not yet published the outcome of the hearing.
Police Appeal and Arrest Details
After the appeal for help, a Cheshire Police spokesman stated, “We can now confirm that Kieran Cameron has been arrested in the Hulme area of Greater Manchester.”
He was arrested by officers from Cheshire Police’s serious and organised crime unit. The appeal noted that the wanted man had extensive links to Manchester, Liverpool, and Dorset.
Residents were urged not to approach the inmate but to call 999 immediately.
