Cheshire Police Seeks Public Help to Find Kieran Cameron

Cheshire Police has made an urgent appeal for assistance in locating Kieran Cameron, who has escaped from HMP Thorn Cross.

The 43-year-old is serving a 23-year prison sentence for attempted murder committed in Dorset in 2016. Cameron was reported missing from the category D open prison in Appleton Thorn at 8:20 PM on Tuesday.

Police describe Cameron as white, approximately 5’ 6” tall, with a medium build, heavily receding hair, and a ginger and grey beard. He has extensive links to Manchester, Liverpool, and Dorset.

DCI Nick Henderson from Cheshire Police’s serious and organised crime unit stated, “We are appealing for the help of the public to trace Kieran Cameron. He is unlawfully at large after leaving HMP Thorn Cross in Warrington. If you see him, do not approach him, and call 999 immediately.”

Background on the Case

Cameron was sentenced to 23 years in prison in August 2016 for attempted murder after a stabbing in Poole, Dorset, linked to threats from rival gangs. The then-34-year-old was found guilty by a jury at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Details of the Attack

The court heard that Cameron and a co-defendant stabbed their 22-year-old victim around 10 times during the attack. They were said to be involved in serious and organised crime and had been threatened by a rival gang.

Jurors were informed that they attempted to kill the victim to blame the rival gang. CCTV footage shown in court depicted the defendant fleeing the scene while the victim staggered from an alleyway seeking help.

The victim sustained 10 stab wounds to the stomach, neck, and back of the head, all of which required surgery in the hospital.
