Upcoming Events in South Wonston and Sutton Scotney

MESSY Church will return to St Margaret’s Church, Downs Road, South Wonston, on Sunday, January 11. It will run from 4pm to 5pm. The event will include crafts, games, songs, stories, and snacks. Parents can enjoy a cuppa and a chat. Attendees will think about New Year’s resolutions and build a giant marble run. For more information, email revclairebentham@outlook.com.

A REMINDER: The Northbrook Hall library is open every Thursday from 2pm to 4pm.

THE next Sutton Scotney Community café will be at the Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney, on Wednesday, January 21, from 9.30am to 12noon. This event supports Read Easy, a local charity for adults with reading difficulties. The café is run by volunteers. All cakes are homemade, and there is real coffee and free parking. There is a gluten-free cake option each month, along with homemade biscotti and a savory offering. All cakes are available to eat in or takeaway. The café is cash only.

SCOTS Tots, the Sutton Scotney baby and toddler group, will start its first session on Friday, January 9. Attendees will make their own calendar for the year. Scots Tots runs every Friday during term time from 10am to 11.30am at the Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney. Places cost £3.50 per family.

JUDO classes will restart at the Warren Centre, Micheldever, on Friday, January 9. Everyone is welcome to join and have fun. Beginners get their first session free. No booking is needed; just arrive five minutes early and pay as you go. The class starts at 6.30pm. For more information, contact The Judo Company.

THE next talk from the Dever History Society will be on Tuesday, January 20, at Northbrook Hall, Micheldever. It starts at 7pm. The talk, titled “Tales from the Riverbank,” features Martin Miles discussing the River Dever. He will cover the river’s history, geography, and current challenges, including pollution. All are welcome. Places cost £10 at the door, and there will be a donation bar and refreshments.

WINCHESTER Auto Barn, near Sutton Scotney, will host a night of Steely Dan-inspired music on Saturday, January 31, starting at 7.30pm. Simply Dan, a UK Steely Dan tribute band, will perform. Tickets cost £22 each and are available from the Winchester Auto Barn Facebook page.
