Dwayne Harvey, 21, was sentenced in Middlesbrough for selling crack cocaine and received a suspended prison term.
Dwayne Harvey was arrested in Middlesbrough with crack cocaine. Police also found a mobile phone with him.
Teesside Crown Court learned that the case took time to reach court due to the analysis of the phone’s contents.
Harvey, from Meath Street, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine on May 22, 2023.
His lawyer, Robert Mochrie, said Harvey pleaded guilty at the first chance. He also mentioned that Harvey has several health issues, including ADHD.
Mochrie added that Harvey’s family faced tragedy shortly before Christmas when his aunt, who was living with him, sadly died from a drug overdose.
Judge Deborah Sherwin sentenced the 21-year-old to two years in prison, suspended for two years. He must also complete 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
Judge Sherwin noted, “You are now 21. When you were 19, you were caught with crack cocaine intended for sale. The delay in this case was due to the police needing to examine your phone.”
She continued, “You have had a long wait, which may have been harder for you than for others. You need to stay out of trouble for the next two years and follow probation service instructions.”
