Parkrun Route Being Considered at Oakey Park in Stanley
Organisers are exploring a new parkrun route at Oakey Park in Stanley.
Ian Goulding, a parkrun event ambassador, stated, “We have landowner permission and are in discussion for funding via Durham County Council.”
Since the announcement, organisers are seeking to recruit a core team of volunteers to help launch the event.
Anyone interested can attend a meeting on Wednesday, January 14, at 6pm at Craghead Village Hall. The meeting will cover next steps.
Volunteer Opportunities Available
Mr. Goulding mentioned there are “lots of ways” for people to get involved, with no running or previous event volunteering experience needed.
He added, “We are inviting anyone interested in being involved in this exciting project to discuss next steps with fellow volunteers.”
“There is space for everyone to volunteer in some capacity, so all are welcome.”
“People are welcome to bring family and friends along to the meeting.”

The meeting will take place at Craghead Village Hall, Middles Road, Craghead, Stanley DH9 6AN. Cycle parking and car parking are available on site.
If approved, the event would be based at Oakey Park, Stanley DH9 8AN, and would become a free, weekly, timed 5km parkrun.
