Recognition for Dedication to Agriculture
A skilled farmer from Poyntzpass was recognized for his dedication and loyal service to agriculture. Four individuals received awards from the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS) at their Christmas Council Lunch last month.

Eugene McVeigh received a Long Service Award for 45 years as Farm Operation Manager at Action House Farm. RUAS President John Henning OBE presented the award. Since starting his career in 1980, Eugene has held many roles on the farm. He is known as a capable ploughman and skilled sprayer operator. Recently, he managed the farm’s composting operation.
The Best family, who own the farm, expressed pride in Eugene’s contributions to Action House Farm and the wider farming community. His skill, dedication, and generosity have made a lasting impact on his colleagues.
Walter Thompson was also recognized for over 40 years of service as an employee on a well-known local farm. David McClurg and the Fleming Family were honored with Gold Society Awards for over 50 years of service as exhibitors at the Balmoral Show.
