Stockton Council Proposes Traffic Regulation Order
Stockton Council is proposing a traffic regulation order that includes several changes. The proposals aim to introduce restrictions on various roads. The council has invited residents to submit objections by January 28, 2026.

The new 20mph limits also apply to the full lengths of Yarm Street, Yarm Lane South Back Street, Park Terrace, and Tower Street.
Reason for the Proposed Changes
The council’s public notice states that they propose to make an Order under sections 1, 2, 4, 32, 35, 84 and part IV of schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, along with all other enabling powers. This follows consultation with the chief officer of police as required by law.
Full details of the proposals, including a map, are available to view at the Stockton Customer Service Centre, Central Library, The Square, Stockton during normal office hours. Anyone wishing to object to the proposed order can submit their reasons in writing by the deadline of January 28, 2026.
