Sue Smith Appointed New Director of Suffolk Accident Rescue Service
The new director of an emergency medical charity is eager to help its teams continue their vital service to the community.
Sue Smith has been named the new charity director of Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS).
Sue, from Bury St Edmunds, brings decades of experience. She was previously head of fundraising at MyWiSH, based at West Suffolk Hospital.
Regarding her appointment, she said: “I’m delighted to be joining SARS. The dedication and skill of the volunteer clinicians is inspiring. I’m looking forward to working with the team, supporters, and partners to help ensure this vital service continues to be there for our communities when they need it most.”
SARS, founded in 1972 and based in Woolpit, sends volunteers to emergency scenes to support patients in Suffolk and neighboring counties.
It works alongside paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service through its critical care desk, which monitors incoming 999 calls.
Harry Richardson, chairman of trustees at SARS, said Sue’s experience would help strengthen the charity’s work.
He added: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Sue as our new charity director. She brings invaluable experience and a strong commitment to our mission, supporting our volunteer clinicians as they deliver lifesaving care to people in our local community.”
