Dr Alaaedin Kamel from Sunderland has been suspended amid allegations of dishonesty and fabrication of medical reports.
Dr Alaaedin Kamel, a clinical radiologist based in Sunderland, has been suspended for the past month. This follows a ten-month period during which his license to practice was removed. The suspension is pending the outcome of a Medical Practitioners’ Tribunal (MPT) hearing.
The hearing is set to begin on Monday, January 5. It will investigate allegations that Dr Kamel submitted a form to University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Foundation Trust on or around December 9, 2023, containing dishonest information.
Additionally, Dr Kamel is accused of fabricating reports dated between October 2024 and October 2025. These reports were purportedly from an unnamed doctor referred to as “Dr A.” He allegedly sent these reports to the General Medical Council (GMC) for use in his next Interim Orders Tribunal hearing.
Another allegation suggests that Dr Kamel knew “Dr A” had not provided the reports. He is accused of breaching conditions imposed on his registration by submitting these fabricated reports and acting dishonestly.
Parts of the case will be heard in private, following GMC (Fitness to Practice) regulations. The virtual hearing is estimated to last seven days, with the outcome expected to be published online within 28 days of its conclusion.
Dr Kamel graduated from an Egyptian university in 2006. He has been registered in clinical radiology since 2015 and has held a license to practice since August 2017.
