Falkirk musician Andrew Ure passed away on Hogmanay after a hiking trip, prompting heartfelt tributes from family and friends.
Andrew Ure, a musician from Falkirk, celebrated his 41st birthday the day before he set out to try new hiking gear. Unfortunately, he never returned home.
His family has shared tributes, expressing their grief. His brother David mentioned that Andy was excited about the new year and eager to go for a hill walk in his birthday gear. He thanked the Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team for their efforts.
David said, “So many people have lost a part of their world as he meant so much to many. For me, I’ve lost my wee brother, my best pal, my business partner, my sounding board, and the daily reason I used my phone. Heartbroken doesn’t even come close.”
The band Ray Summers also honored Ure, stating on Facebook, “Andy was not only the rock in our band, he was the rock in our lives. This hurts so much. All our love & strength goes out to Andy’s Linsey & his two wee boys, his family & all that were so lucky to know him.”
The Wee Whisky Shop, where Ure was a director, expressed their sorrow on Facebook, saying, “It is with profound sadness that we share the news that one of our directors, Andrew Ure, passed away on 31st December, 2025. Words cannot fully express the pain of this loss and our thoughts are with Andrew’s family at this incredibly difficult time.”
Ure’s partner, Linsey Waddell, shared a touching message on Facebook, recalling, “On your birthday you wanted to look at the stars with me. Little did I know the next day you would be one of those stars. You were my guiding light and the biggest star of all.”
