A man and a woman were left “badly shaken” after a petrol bomb was thrown at their house in Londonderry.
Police reported that the suspected petrol bomb was thrown through a window in the Circular Road area at around 6:45 PM on Monday evening.
According to a police spokesperson, “The occupants of the house, a man and woman, were able to extinguish the fire that ignited in the living room area.”
“They were both uninjured, but left badly shaken by what happened,” the spokesperson added.
The police are treating the incident as arson with intent to endanger life. They noted that some damage occurred to the window and living room floor area.
“We are treating this matter as arson with intent to endanger life, and enquiries are ongoing today to determine a motive and who was involved,” the spokesperson said.
Police are especially interested in hearing from anyone who saw a green saloon vehicle or three men on foot at the time of the incident.
It is understood that the vehicle traveled from the direction of the Creggan Heights area and left towards Southway.
