YDMT Receives £20,000 for Youth Conservation Work

The Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) has received £20,000 from Beyondly’s Fund for Change. This funding will support its youth-focused conservation work in the Yorkshire Dales and nearby areas.

Support for Youth Programs

Michael Devlin, chief executive of YDMT, stated, “This generous support from Beyondly will enable us to get more young people outdoors, learning practical conservation skills, improving their wellbeing, and feeling empowered to lead environmental change in their own communities and careers.”

He added, “It’s a brilliant vote of confidence in our youth work and the young people we serve.”

Green Futures Pathway

The funding will help YDMT’s Green Futures pathway. This program assists young people aged 11 to 24 in accessing nature through outdoor experiences and progression routes.

The scheme aims to involve 250 young people from underrepresented communities in 70 outdoor events over the next year. Events will include nature walks, tree planting, bushcraft sessions, and habitat conservation activities.

Youth Leadership Development

The program also supports youth leadership development through a monthly youth forum, residential programs, and an annual Youth Environment Summit.

Rural Apprenticeship Scheme

To create rural career opportunities, YDMT will continue its Rural Apprenticeship Scheme. This scheme offers 18-month placements, Level 2 Countryside Worker training, and personalized pastoral support.

Continued Support from Beyondly

This is the second year YDMT has received support from Beyondly. The consultancy previously funded the trust’s community tree growing work.

Mel Harper, head of brand and impact at Beyondly, said, “YDMT’s youth-led approach aligns perfectly with our purpose to lead, inspire and educate for a better, fairer, sustainable world for all.”

She added, “At Beyondly, we’re proud to support initiatives through our Fund for Change that empower communities and make lasting environmental change.”

Beyondly’s Charitable Contributions

Beyondly is a B Corp-certified consultancy. It donates five percent of its net profit each year to charitable projects that deliver environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impact.

The company’s total charitable fund for the year was £256,338.

Milestone Anniversaries

Both organizations will celebrate milestone anniversaries in 2026. YDMT will mark its 30th year, while Beyondly will celebrate its 20th.
